When we think of Mickey Mantle cards, the first card that usually pops up in our minds is the obvious 1952 Mantle RC. However, the 1953 Topps issue has made some remarkable strides in the up arrow column and may never slow down anytime soon. With the average grade examples still pulling in $3000-5000 that may not be the case for long. I would bet buying one less than a few grand won't be easy pretty soon. I think the 53' has so much more to offer, and would make a worthy investment as well for someone looking to buy this piece of legendary cardboard versus some blue chip stock right now. That's just my opinion for a long-term strategy for a couple grand.
