I just picked up the two 1934-36 Batter Up cards, and am thinking about a couple others. All I know is I love my local shops at Ideal Cards and Coins and Shoeless Joe's in Cincinnati, OH. Great selections.

Silent Baseball Game in Camden Yards

So yesterday was quite a different day for a baseball game at Camden Yards. The Orioles hosted the White Sox in a game with no fans in attendance. Not that this is anything you probably don't already know, says Captain Obvious, but I just felt the need to comment on it. How weird that must have been for the players and for Chris "Crush" Davis to hit a home run to a silent stadium, all but a few smiles from balconies and people by the gates to cheer on their beloved O's. I just hope that the unrest in their city will some how bring the community back together soon and find ways for both sides of  the police and neighbors to get along and crime to go down.  That is more important than a baseball game, but baseball does have a healing effect on fans I think. Just my 2 cents on the story.

What's in your Binder???

What's in your binder??? Join me and we can rule the galaxy...or something like that. Let me know what you like to collect.
Here are some cool cards I found in a binder that needed some retooling if you will.  I just wish I had the originals of these inserts from Bowman. I love my Babe Ruth, Nestle card and of course my Donnie Baseball, Walter Looss photography card. Bo even makes his appearance in his RC, Raiders jersey!!!

Well, Topps 2015, Gypsy Queen released this week, and I've started my stack. Getting more soon I'm sure.  A great throwback design with new and old players. Love my Joe D !!! I am reviewing this set at a grade of 4 out of 5. I think it has a great look and love what I've seen so far from my pulls and my buddy's pulls already. He got a mini book out of his mini box inside of his box break. Lucky dog. I did get 2 auto's from my 7 packs so I can't complain. On to my next pack raid.

Lumberjack's of the old days. I just wish I could have heard how that conversation went. My take is that Ty brought 2 bats, Joe brought 3, just incase he needed it as backup or to show Cobb up.

Baseball is upon us again, Finally!!! I am hoping to see some great new cards this year, now that Topps has already delivered an awesome base design, and cool heritage cards again.  I only hope we can get more kids and collectors involved in the hobby this year.  We see that it is alive and well, with crazy sales of Kris Bryant Cubs phenom and vintage booming again. I am doing my part in raising and teaching an almost 4 year old about baseball lore and collecting.  Its fun and keeps me even more involved in the sportscard market. I will be at the National sports convention in Chicago, and can't wait to show my son the amazing treasures to be had. I just hope we can all enjoy the hobby through the eyes of the younger generation and appreciate our collections even more. Sales are great, but we all need to enjoy the hobby too for the next generation to learn from. So break out the peanuts and cracker jacks, it's baseball season!!!
